Vard Tulcea – new acquisition of RTOs
For a better compliance to the newest environmental standards in terms of solvent emissions during passivation coating operations, Vard Tulcea decided to implement a new project in the shipyard, and therefore installed RTO neutralizing stations in the painting halls. This equipment is using a catalytic oxidation system with capacity to maintain the appropriate level of working temperature, where placed.
The installed equipment accedes the required characteristics as they have been stipulated in the contract. Instead of achieving a maximum of 50 mg/m3 solvent in the exhausted air, one can actually reach and constantly maintain emissions with values below 10 mg/m3.
Besides solving the technical issue described above the shipyard benefited also from reduced administrative efforts in relationship with local environmental protection authorities. This was possible due to process automation for measuring the level of emissions in the chimney with the help of a gas analyzer, which is part of the delivered equipment. This one allows monitoring the emissions for proper optimization of the installation’s working cycles.
