Fume and dust extraction during grinding processes

Clean and Safe Air in a Technical School in Belgium – Welding and Grinding Extraction System

A technical school in Belgium recently relocated its workshops to a new facility and decided to implement an advanced extraction system for managing fumes and particles generated during welding and grinding activities. These operations are conducted simultaneously in a relatively compact area, making air quality and safety critical.

The implemented solution includes:

  • a FilterMax F600 unit
  • connected to a ventilator with integrated inverter for efficient airflow control
  • the FilterMax was linked to 12 Nederman Original extraction units (2-meter arms) installed directly in the welding booths
  • and 3 XL extraction arms installed in the grinding area

Key benefits:

  • the frequent use of the extraction arms keeps the air clean and safe, even during intense and simultaneous operations
  • localized extraction ensures effective removal of hazardous particles right at the source
  • compact installation, ideal for educational environments with limited space
  • contributes to long-term health protection for students and instructors

This setup demonstrates how educational institutions can maintain industrial-level safety standards while optimizing learning environments.
