Pneumatic Abrasive Recovery Systems – Efficient and Flexible Solutions for Blasting Operations
19.06.2019
In blasting operations, recovering the abrasive is essential—either for reuse or for safe disposal of waste. A pneumatic recovery system offers the advantage of accomplishing both goals simultaneously, making it a practical and cost-effective solution.
There are several methods available for organizing abrasive recovery:
- through conveyor belts
- using scraper systems
- by means of bolts
- via vacuum pneumatic systems
Each method has its own pros and cons, but vacuum-based solutions are particularly suitable for small and medium-sized blasting cabinets, and they are compatible with most blasting machines on the market.
Recovery can be performed:
- using suction units
- by capturing abrasive from collection tanks or similar zones
The standard pneumatic abrasive recovery system includes:
- pneumatic vacuum unit with pre-separator
- suction unit
- abrasive silo
- collecting tank
- discharge valve for transferring abrasive back into the blasting machine
Main advantages of the pneumatic solution:
- can also be used for cleaning other materials or residues
- simple and flexible to install
- robust construction, easy to maintain
- can be used alongside other recovery systems
Disadvantages:
- collection efficiency depends on operator behavior
- blasting operations need to be paused during the recovery phase
Important!
If the recovered abrasive is reused, it is crucial to periodically check the purification level to maintain surface quality and avoid contamination.
