Pneumatic recovery of abrasive materials
19.06.2019
During blasting operations it is recommended to recover the abrasives either for reusing purposes or/and for safely depositing the waste resulted in the process. The pneumatic solution helps in achieving both objectives in the same time.
There are several ways in which the abrasive recovery can be organized.
- One can do it while using conveyor belts
- It can be organized with the help of scrapers
- It can be done using bolts
- It can be achieved with the support of vacuum pneumatic systems
Each technical solution presents advantages and disadvantages. The vacuum units can be easily installed in small and medium blasting cabinets. They are compatible with the major part of blasting machines.
The recovery of abrasives can be organized with the help of suction units or thorough capturing from the collecting tank or from any other similar area.
The pneumatic recovery system consists of:
- pneumatic vacuum unit with pre-separator
- suction unit
- abrasive silo
- collecting tank
- discharge valve for transferring the recovered abrasive into the blasting machine
The advantages of the pneumatic abrasive recovery equipment
- it can be also used for other types of cleaning purposes
- it represents an easy and flexible solution that is simply to be installed
- it's robust and easy to maintain
- can be installed complementarily to other recovery systems
Disadvantages
- collecting the abrasives depends on the way in which the operator works, plus there is a need to pause the blasting process during the operation
Note!
In case of reusing the abrasive it is necessary to periodically verify its level of purification.
