AST1 Mineral Abrasive

AST1 is an ultra-fine synthetic mineral abrasive, environmentally safe and compliant with ISO 11126-4 N/CS/G. It is composed of semi-angular glass particles derived from aluminum silicate glass, with ferrous components almost entirely eliminated. Thanks to its ultra-fine granulation, low metallic iron content (below 0.1%), and chemically inert composition, AST1 is ideal for applications that require surface protection and maximum delicacy — such as cleaning of monuments, facades, or graffiti removal.

  • A0: 0.04–0.09 mm
  • A1: 0.04–0.18 mm
  • A2: 0.09–0.25 mm
  • A3: 0.09–0.50 mm

Chemical composition:

  • Silicon dioxide (SiO₂): 42–58%
  • Aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃): 23–32%
  • Iron oxide (Fe₂O₃): 3–15%
  • Calcium oxide (CaO): 2–8.5%
  • Potassium oxide (K₂O): 0.5–4.6%
  • Chemically bonded metals (silicates/aluminates)
  • No free silica acid; insoluble in water
  • Iron content < 0.1%

  • Particle density: 2.4–2.6 kg/dm³
  • Bulk density: 1.05–1.4 kg/dm³
  • Mohs hardness: min. 6
