Elcometer 138 Bresle Kit & Patches
The Elcometer 138 Bresle Kit is a complete field-ready solution for accurately measuring soluble salt contamination on metal surfaces prior to coating application. Contaminants such as chlorides, sulfates, and nitrates can severely compromise coating performance, leading to premature failure, corrosion, and increased maintenance costs. Measuring these contaminants is therefore essential to ensuring coating durability and long-term surface protection.
The kit includes the Elcometer 138 Bresle Salt Meter or Conductivity Meter, a lightweight, portable device that requires only a single drop of solution to measure conductivity. It automatically calculates salt concentration—removing the need for manual conversions—fully compliant with ISO 8502-6 and ISO 8502-9 standards.
The Elcometer 135 Bresle Patches (available in classic B version or new C version) are affixed to the surface to form a sealed test chamber. Injected with pure water, the patch allows salt extraction by agitation. The solution is then withdrawn and its conductivity measured using the meter, providing a fast and precise salt density reading directly in µg/cm² or mS/cm.
