Elcometer 3505 Cube Film Applicators
The Elcometer 3505 Cube Film Applicator is a precision-engineered applicator made from hardened stainless steel, specifically designed to apply single, narrow film stripes with a width of 12mm (0.5”). Its flat-edged, bevelled blade makes it ideal for creating uniform coatings on flat and firm substrates, particularly glass, where it is commonly used for drying time evaluations.
To ensure accurate film thickness, each applicator is supplied with a set of 19 precision gauges, covering a range from 30 to 1000μm (1 to 40 mils). These gauges allow users to finely adjust the gap between the applicator blade and the substrate surface, ensuring consistent and repeatable film application.
For comparative studies, a five-reservoir version is also available, enabling simultaneous application of five parallel film stripes. The spacing between the films is designed to match the gliders of the Elcometer 4341 Motorised Film Applicator, making it ideal for side-by-side testing of multiple products under identical conditions.
