Elcometer 3095 Buchholz Hardness Tester
The Elcometer 3095 Buchholz Hardness Tester measures coating hardness using the indentation method. It is designed to provide a reliable and repeatable assessment of a coating’s resistance to mechanical indentation, ideal for laboratory and quality control environments.
The device consists of a precision-ground bevelled disc indenting tool mounted into a stainless steel block that applies a constant test load of 500g (17.6oz). The tester is gently placed onto the coated surface and left in position for 30 seconds. After removal, the length of the indentation left in the coating is measured using the supplied graduated microscope.
The final result is expressed in Buchholz Indentation Resistance units, as per the standard scale.
